My Top 9 Morning Rituals to help me feel energized throughout my day

Your morning sets the tone for the rest of your day, so why not make the most of it? Adding 9 new morning routine habits all at once can be a little much. So why not just add one or two of these and see how it makes you feel? Even if you’re like me and not a morning person, once you’re up and doing things you’ll start to wake up. It feels great to spend the first few hours of your day productively!
Gratitude
When I wake up in the morning, that is when I usually set my mood by being grateful and looking at the bright side, even on days that are extremely hard for me. By practicing gratitude, you are putting postive thoughts in your mind and therefore that will impact your emotions.
Drink lemon water
I usually wake up my body with 2 room temperature glasses of water first thing in the morning followed by simply adding a slice of lemon in a glass of hot water and drink one every morning. This is a very simple ritual I follow faithfully every morning.
Apart from being a good source of vitamin C and a great way of flushing out toxins in the morning, it balances and maintains the PH levels in the body, reduces pain and inflammation in joints and knees and helps nourishing brain and nerve cells.
I sometimes add chia seeds to my lemon water, which add lots of fiber and omega 3 to my day. Chia seeds are also an excellent source of protein, calcium, potassium, and magnesium. Adding lemon makes it tastier and easier to drink, plus it helps with detoxification of the liver.
Eat breakfast
I have always been a morning person and breakfast has always been my favorite meal. What you eat at breakfast has a huge effect on how you feel for the rest of the day.
A few of my favorite are eggs, walnuts with cheese on sourdough bread, nut butters with home made jam, mixed greens/arugua, protein shakes, and oatmeal. Days that I feel like eating fruits, I make sure that I pair it up with proteins, such as nuts or seeds. So next time you reach for that coffee and banana, you might want to add some protein and carbohydrates in order to avoid your blood sugar from fluctuating.
Take your vitamins
Vitamins are best to take in the mornings to give you energy and boost to get you through the day. So make your to take them part of your morning routine, that way you won't have to remind yourself later. Some vitamins are better taken with food, whereas some are better absorbed when taken away from food, so be sure to read the labels before taking them.
Poop
Having a bowel movement in the morning is great way to clear the body of toxins and any bloating that can make you feel uncomfortable during the day. So get it out of your system early in the morning. Btw if you drink your 2 glasses of water and hot lemon water it will definitely help you with bowel movement.
Exercise
Cortisol hormone is highest in the morning when you are first waking up. Exercise also increases cortisol, so this is the best time to get your physical activity in. If you hit the gym too late into the day, your cortisol will spike later and this can mess with the hormonal balance in your body. Exercise gives you energy and helps with focus and concentration, so working out in the morning sets you up nicely for the work day. Make sure you also get to stretch or practice yoga.
Meditate
Meditation can help with all sorts of different conditions, mainly stress and anxiety. Meditating daily can help you to feel more calm and prepared to face stressors on your way in to work and later on throughout the day as well. There are tons of guided meditations on YouTube, and lots of free apps available on the AppStore that will take you through some exercises, if you are not sure. If you are rushing in the monring, just take a few minutes to practive some deep breaths.
Get outside/deep breathing
Time to get outside and reconnect with nature! Even if you live in the city, a quick walk in the park can do the trick. Being outdoors can be invigorating and give you the energy you need to face the day!
Have some family time
Family time in my household usually involves having breakfast together, helping the children get ready in the morning, dropping them off to school, chatting with them in the car and playing their favorite music. On weekends I prepare breakfast with the kids and exercise to get some family time in, while being productive.
Incorporating these 9 habits into your morning routine can increase your metabolism, give you more energy, and improve your overall health and happiness.
